Artists Need Collectors
YOUR INVITATION
Artists need collectors, collectors need artists, and churches need quality arts' craftsmanship that faithfully extends the visual heritage of their sacred spaces. When I opened Illumination.Studio online, my plan was to create a gallery of sacred art that would be of service to artists and collectors across America. Showing and selling art at Illumination.Studio is by invitation-only. I am extending this invitation to you - will you join me as an exhibiting artist at Illumination.Studio?
HOW DOES IT WORK?
When you offer your artwork for sale at Illumination.Studio, I act as your art dealer. I place your art for sale at the online gallery. You keep your artwork in your own inventory and ship directly to the collector when your art sells. When you place your artwork for sale at Illumination.Studio, you agree to remove it from other sales channels while it is actively for sale with me. As your art dealer, I will promote you and your work, answer questions from collectors, and update your collections at your request.
WHAT DOES IT COST ME TO SHOW MY WORK AT ILLUMINATION.STUDIO?
From now until June 30, 2023 there is no cost to have your art listed online. Beginning July 1, 2023, to cover some of the cost of administration, there will be a charge of $5.00 per artwork to post your artwork for sale.
HOW DO I JOIN ILLUMINATION.STUDIO AS AN EXHIBITING ARTIST?
It's simple - start by sending me an email to office@illumination.studio or call me at the office at (925) 631-1387. Then,
- Review, sign, and return the Gallery Contract (Download the Gallery Contract);
- Complete, sign, and return a W-9 Form (Download the W-9 form and Instructions);
- Complete and return a copy of the gallery's 'Consignment Agreement and Art-Submission Spreadsheet' with your media assets (Download the 'Consignment Agreement and Art-Submission Spreadsheet' for Excel, Numbers, or as a PDF).
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN MY WORK SELLS?
When a collector or patron purchases your art, I'll notify you by email the same day. I request that you ship your work to the buyer, properly packaged and insured, within 3-5 business days, and provide me with the shipping tracking information. (And if you are out of town and need more time to ship, I ask that you please let me know so that I can keep your collector up to date.) When the buyer receives and approves your shipment, your artist's commission is transferred to you within 30 days (usually sooner.)
WHAT ABOUT COMMISSIONS, SHIPPING, AND SALES TAX?
You, the artist, collect 70% of the sale as the 'artist's commission;' as the art dealer, I collect 30% of the sale as the 'gallery commission.' The artist is responsible for all costs related to packing, shipping, and insurance while the art is in transit from you to the buyer; the artist is also responsible for any personal income taxes related to the sale of their art with Illumination.Studio. Illumination.Studio is responsible for sales reporting, sales tax collection, and sales tax payment. In the rare circumstance that a buyer reports that the work received is not to their expectation, or has arrived damaged from shipping, the Gallery will mediate a satisfactory resolution between the artist and the buyer.
I hope that you will consider my invitation to show your work here, at Illumination.Studio!
