The Greek word Charis, translated grace, means kindness. Grace can even be defined by the acronym God’s Riches at Christ’s Expense. Every action of God toward us involves his grace. His creation, his daily providence, his forgiveness of the sinner, his gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, and the promise of eternal life. All of this is due to God's grace. Holy Scripture is rich with references to the depth of God’s grace through Jesus Christ.
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.
- Ephesians 2:8
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.
- 2 Corinthians 8:9
But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.
- Hebrews 2:9
But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ, by grace you have been saved.
- Ephesians 2:4-5
